Every visitor of the platform has the option to navigate through the NFC records and/or search for a specific one. To assist the users on that operation and make it fast and easy to perform, the platform supports the following search mechanisms:
1) Simple search form
Visitors of the platform are able to query the NFC repository using keywords in a form. This form is located in the applications top area where the menu lies and is always accessible from any page of the platform. By clicking on the magnifying glass, a text input appears like in the following figure , in which the users can type the desired keyword(s) and query the database.
Additionally, while the visitors type the preferred keyword, the platform queries the repository in real-time, extracting potential results and presenting them. The following figure presents this Search Aid mechanism using a generic keyword (SUS).
Finally, if the result of the search correspond to more than one NFC record, the platform navigates the visitor to the Search Results page to preview the resulting records and select the appropriate one.
2) Search by filters
PANACEA platform allows its visitors to query the repository with the use of predefined filters to expedite the search process. This functionality is embedded into the system in multiple aspects to maximize the user experience.
In the landing page of the platform (Home Page), users can preview the four crop categories that the PANACEA platform supports: 1) Oil, 2) Lignocellulosic, 3) Carbohydrates and 4) Speciallity crops. Figure 4 depicts this filter functionality, where for each category the user can preview a statistical information on how many projects and/or crop related information exist in the repository. By clicking on a statistical number the platform redirects the user in the Search Results page to preview the corresponding information.
Furthermore, visitors can also filter the desired information by one of the PANACEA Topics and specifically
- Cultivation & agronomic management
- Harvest & logistics
- Genetics & breeding
- Uses/applications
- Processing
- Other
By selecting the desired topic, the system redirects the user to the Search Results page where he can preview the information that correspond to the specified criteria.
Finally, in the Search Results page, visitors can access the crop category and topic filters in the top area, enabling them to query the database and limit the results according to their needs in an easy and flexible manner.
On the bottom part of any NFC project there is message icon available like this
